1)How Can I get Social Security Number?
1)How Can I get Social Security Number?
In order to receive a Social Security Number, you need to have
an offer of employment either on-campus or off-campus. For on-campus employment at Stevens, an
employment letter will be issued by the employer and will be
signed by the Office of International Student & Scholar
Services. Take this letter to Social Security Administration (SSA)
in Hoboken, along with your passport, Form I-94 and Form I-20. If you do not have Social Security
Number and you have been granted CPT/OPT, you don’t need to
bring any letter to ISSS; all you need to do is bring following
papers to SSA 1) your employment offer letter (For CPT),2) you
EAD Card (For OPT),3) your CPT/OPT I-20,4) your passport and 5)
Form I-94. You should be aware that permission to accept off-campus
employment i.e. CPT/OPT can only be granted by the Office of
International Student & Scholar Services in accordance with
regulations of United States Citizenship and Immigration
Services. New Jersey law mandates that all full-time students have health insurance. Full-time students are automatically enrolled in the insurance plan and a premium for coverage is added to their tuition bill unless proof of comparable coverage is furnished. In order to waive your Health Insurance please visit http://www.universityhealthplans.com . All International students have to maintain their full time status by registering for 9 credits in both Fall and Spring semester. All international students, in order to maintain full-time status can only register for one (i.e. 3 credits) webcampus course every semester. You can register for two web courses in your final semester however, your F-1 status will not be maintained. For web courses you do not need to be in the U.S, so please make sure you have some other legal non-immigrant status before choosing to register for only web campus courses. The regulation is always at the discretion of the local district office. Newark has determined that they are no longer participating in "emergency" or temporary EAD. That is there decision. It appears from the conversation with Vermont, that they are taking up to 120 days to issue cards. If that is the case you must wait until the 121 date. As a joint program student you have option to be in academic level and take course of another academic level. I.e. if you are an undergraduate student you have option to take masters courses. However, your I-20 will not change because you have been accepted to a bachelors program. Please visit our website for program extension if you will need additional time to complete you program. Here is the policy on the completion of study. 1)If a student still has a valid I-20 that has an expiration date in the future, and desires to take additional courses at Stevens even though they have met all the Academic requirements for completion, they ARE eligible to enroll in the additional courses at Stevens. 2)If a student has an I-20 that is expiring in the current semester, and has met all the Academic requirements for completion, they are NOT eligible to extend their I-20 to enroll in additional courses at Stevens. Please note: this policy is NOT applicable if a student is accepted into a new degree granting program. In that case all of the application and admission procedure must be met and new I-20 will be issued for the new degree granting program |
